US professional Bo Van Pelt was victorious at the CIMB Asia Pacific Classic 2011 after scoring 261 (66-64-67-64), six shots clear of second-placed Jeff Overton, also an American. Van Pelt will be flying home with the US$1.3 million champion’s prize money.
But how about our two Malaysians competing in the tournament? Not bad, at least for Danny Chia. He came out T-13 with five others at 272 (notables: Robert Allenby, Stewart Cink, Brandt Sendeker). Not bad at all, considering he is now richer by US$85,000.00. Different story for the other Malaysian, though: Shaaban Hussin was placed T-45, 2nd last, with Angel Cabrera, with a score of 291 (the money was still good: US$42,500.00).
No one realistically expected our players to be on par with those PGA golfers but Shaaban was still expected to do better than just somewhere at the bottom places. Can you do that next year, Shaaban?
