Masters Day 1

After the end of Day 1 (Round 1), there had been a big, big surprise in the form of Australian Mark Leishman, and a big surprise in the form of Sergio Garcia!! Both scored 66!! But Sergio’s was better at bogey-free 6 birdies, Mark’s was 7-birdie 1-bogey.

Next,

67 – Dustin Johnson

68 – David Lynn, Matt Kuchar

67 – Dustin Johnson

68 – six guys!! And Tiger Woods is not one of them – David Lynn, Rickie Fowler, Fernandez-Castano, Trevor Immelman, Fred Couples,  Matt Kuchar. Now, Couple’s name here is a nice surprise!

69 – Three guys, and still Tiger is not one of them! Neither is Rory – Jim Furyk, Zach Johnson, Adam Scott

Tiger Woods had got off to a slow start, or slower than lots of people wanted him to be — only three birdies, off set by one bogey, for a score of 70. At 2-under Par, he is bunched with nine others: Kevin Na, David Toms, Tim Clark, Lee Westwood, Justin Rose, Brandt Snedeker, KJ Choi, John Huh, and Jason Day.

Others scores:

  • Bubba Watson, the defending champ: 75. hmmm…
  • Rory McIlroy – 72
  • Thaworn Wiratchant – 79. He won’t make the cut.
  • Guan Tanliang – 73 (he is the youngest ever player for the Masters)
  • Phil Mickelson – 71
  • Poulter – 76
  • Ian Woosnam, Ben Crenshaw – 80
  • Tom Watson – 79 (Tom Watson is this year Masters’ oldest contestant)

Highest score? Alan Dunbar, amateur, with a score of 83.

Expect a few more surprises on Day 2, where the Cut will be made.
